Favorite Wrestling Game

In the spirit of the Wrestlemania posts in the wrestling forum.......what is everyones favorite wrestling game? I'm not sure if many people would say the current Smackdown vs. RAW series is the gold standard of games, but for me the older games still haven't been beat. WCW/nWo World Tour, WCW/nWo Revenge, WWF WrestleMania 2000, and WWF No Mercy defined the era. Maybe todays games define this era, but the era and the games suck I guess compare to the glory years of the late 90's.

Some of the earlier Smackdown games are probably my favorites. I never played the N64 ones too much. But all time fav? I gotta go with the oldie but goodie.........

Wrestlemania Challenge was ahead of it's time.....it was a HUGE step from the original WrestleMania which was like an arcade fighting game that featured wrestling personalities. Then the sequel to Wrestlemania Challenge, which was "Steel Cage Challenge" was such a major step backward, it was worse than the first game. I was excited to see a cage match in a game, then so sad they threw it together in such lazy fashion.

Anyone who didn't play the N64 games missed out. Just watching the intro for Wrestlemania 2000 you can tell how this game captured the attitude era. It wasn't about perfect graphics or making sure the animation done for every guys move was dead on. It was all about fun. The games depth blew me away. Of course you had Stone Cold, Rock, Undertaker etc.....but the game featured everyone down to the Blue Meanie, The Brood (with intro!) and the Godfather's Ho's. Talk about a step up, the game before this one was WWF Attitude for Playstation - great roster, horrible gameplay on that one. Then this game comes along and nails everything perfect. So many moments re-created in this intro....the attitude era at it's best....hours upon hours of fun were had with this one:

I have a soft spot for the In Your House game on PS1. HBK shootin hearts out and jumpin 1000 feet into the air.

I tried to like that game.....i wanted to.....but its like sticking wrestling characters into a gay version of Mortal Kombat.....just didn't work.
